Information from GrahamH through http://www.priestley.bham.ac.uk "The School (of Sport and Exercise Sciences, University of Birmingham) in its former guise as the Department of Physical Education, established the campsite at Hoathwaite landing in 1947 and for many years held its summer camps there under canvas. Much has changed in Birmingham and at Coniston in the intervening years but the School retains its close links with the Centre and at the end of their first undergraduate year, students spend a week at The Priestley Centre. " |
