Major John Frost, leading officier of the Bruneval Raid (operation Biting) on 27 February 1942. Photo: Photographed after receiving the Military Cross for his part in the Bruneval Raid, 1942. At this time the Parachute Regiment did not have its own insignia or uniform, and so members wore the uniforms of their previous Regiment, in Frost's case, the Cameronians.
