Description |
English: Ship portrait of the four masted barque Herzogin Cecilie. She was built at Rickmers Schiffbau AG in Bremen in 1902 as a training ship for Norddeutsche Lloyd. In 1914 she was taken over by Chile and in 1918 returned to Germany. In 1921 she was given to France as a part of the German war payments, and the French sold her to Gustaf Erikson of Marieholm, Finland. She sailed as part of his line of big sailing ships until 1936, when she foundered off Bolt Head in South Devon, England. Although she was brought clear, she did not return to service and was eventually scrapped. |
