Description Mrs. Christine Gaffaney wipes a tear while receiving a standing ovation in honor of her late husband, Capt. John A. Gaffaney, at an awards ceremony at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 5, 2010. Gaffaney was posthumously awarded the Soldier's Medal by the Secretary of the Army for attempting to subdue the gunman in the sooting at Fort Hood one year earlier. (photo by Maj.
