John Solomon Rarey (12/6/1828-10/4/1866), of Groveport, Ohio, was a most extraordinary horse trainer or "horse whisperer." He toured Europe in 1858 earning an astounding $250,000. His "affection" training methods were adopted in the US Army Cavalry Manual in 1862. Rarey is shown here with his world famous horse, Cruiser. |
