Summary edit

Description

(looking downstream)

Gravel bars along this creek have pebbles and cobbles of Maxville Limestone (Mississippian) & siliciclastic sedimentary rocks derived from upstream outcrops of the Waverly Group (Lower Mississippian) & limestone, chert, and shale derived from upstream and uphill Pennsylvanian-aged outcrops. Scarce clasts of crystalline basement rocks from Canada are also present (derived from Ohio's Pleistocene glacial deposits).

Observed fauna in the creek include small water striders, whirligig beetles, Corbicula sp. Asian river clams (= introduced/pest species), a Lasmigona costa freshwater mussel ("fluted shell"), and trails made by Pleurocera semicarinata freshwater snails.
