Summary edit
DescriptionJosephs' House - 709 Dundas St. (14795107300).jpg |
English: London, Ontario. Joseph’s House was a large free-standing building at the back of the Hospitality Centre that was used as a temporary location for refugees who arrived in London. The Sisters of St. Joseph opened Josephs’ House on September 24, 1987. During the time the Sisters had charge of the house, 1,100 people passed through, most of whom were refugee claimants or sponsored refugees seeking housing. The Sisters supported the refugees through the immigration process, helped them find affordable places to live and provided continued support after they had settled in their new homes. Josephs’ House was taken over by the Cross Cultural Learner Centre in December, 2004. For two years after the Sisters relinquished Josephs’ House, they paid the salaries for Cross Cultural Learner Centre staff. |
