"The grave bears the inscription: ‘This is a lover of his brethren, and of the people’ II Macc.15:14. Father Prelate Józef Londzin, born on the 3rd of February 1862, died on the 21st of March 1929. Live in the Lord and pray for us. Józef Londzin was born in Zabrzeg near Czechowice. His father was a teacher, a collector and enthusiast of local folk art. In 1890 Londzin succeeded Andrzej Kusionowicz (later to become his close friend) as editor of the newspaper Gwiazdka Cieszyńska. He was actively involved in the nationalist organisation Macierz Szkolna dla Księstwa Cieszyńskiego holding the posts of secretary and treasurer; and in the Catholic organisation Dziedzictwo bł Jana Sarkandra. He also founded the Ethnographic Museum. In 1918 Londzin became the joint leader of the National Council of the Cieszyn Duchy with Jan Michejda and Tadeusz Reger. He was a deputy to the Polish Sejm and from 1927 the mayor of Cieszyn. He succeeded in gathering all the museum collections in Cieszyn together into one central museum in Cieszyn castle. He was also the president of the Cieszyn branch of the PTT (Polish Tourism Association) and the founder of the Cieszyn branch of the PTL (the Polish Ethnological Association). He was an enthusiastic member of Macierz Szkolna Księstwa Cieszyńskiego, a writer and a scholar."
