Description
English: Judas' ear fungus Auricularia auricula-judae is commonly known as 'Jews' ears' but in actually named for Judas Iscariot who is said to have hanged himself from a elder tree, the dead wood of which this fungus grows on. Its main growing season is in the winter and its gelatinous texture can withstand freezing.
