Title
Judge Ephraim Henry Sullivan, Colfax, Washington, 1890
Description
Superior Court Judge Ephraim Henry Sullivan served from 1890 until 1897. In 1884 Judge Sullivan was a prosecuting attorney for Whitman County. He was in office in 1891 when the move was made to the new Court House. One of his interesting cases listed that a farmer living south of Endicott had been caught red handed in possession of a horse belonging to somebody else and was convicted and sentenced. Judge E. H. Sullivan set one man with the same charge free because, as the court held, the evidence was that the animal he stole was not a horse but a mare. The distortion of the law was not thereafter repeated in that court. After serving in Whitman County, he was a Spokane Attorney until 1910 when he became a Spokane Superior Court judge. Judge Ephraim's wife was Lucy. He is buried in Riverside, Spokane. Names: Sullivan, Ephraim Henry, 1850-1919
