English: quarry in Hondingen, village northeast of Blumberg West-Swabian Alb. cobbles of Miocene Jüngere Juranagelfluh, which are fluvial sediment coming from the north (Black Forest, northern foreland and Swabian Alb) are associated with the alpine “Obere Süßwassermolasse” (Upper Freshwater Molasse). This sediment came in such tremendous quantities, three giant “runnels” (the dominant being the “Tengen runnel”) were created poring their waters and cobbles up to 350 m high. Farming land is covered with it even today, mind the photo Image:Juranagelfluh_Obermiozaen_Tengener-Rinne_Riedoeschingen_Schwaebische-Alb.jpg). These miocene runnels pored their water into the “Graupensandrinne”, forming huge alluvial fans. |
