Description
English: Entlang der gesamten Mecklenburgischen Ostseeküste, (hier ein Abschnitt zwischen Heiligendamm und Börgerende) werden Holzpfähle wie dargestellt in den Ostseeboden gerammt. Sogenannte "Buhnen", Buhnen sind Pfähle, die reihenweise in die Küstenstreifen gesetzt werden. Damit wird verhindert, dass die Küste von Wasser-Strömungen, besonders bei Sturm abgetragen wird. Bei diesen Pfählen, die hier zu sehen sind, handelt es sich um eine tropische Baumart, die nicht vom Schiffsbohrwurm (Schiffsbohrmuschel) befallen wird. Die heimischen Nadelbaumstämme fielen dem Schiffsbohrwurm ständig zum Opfer.
