Description
हिन्दी: बनारस रेल इंजन कारखाना द्वारा निर्मित बड़ी लाइन के प्रथम भारतीय डीज़ल इंजन कुंदन WDM2 को श्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री द्वारा ३ जनवरी १९६४ को राष्ट्र को समर्पित किया गया था. इस रेल इंजन को पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे के हावड़ा डीज़ल शेड को भेजा गया था. इस इंजन को माल परिवहन के साथ कालक मेल, हावड़ा - अमृतसर मेल एवं हिमगिरि एक्सप्रेस जैसी प्रतिष्ठित गाड़ियों में उपयोग किया गया.
English: India's first diesel engine 'Kundan' WDM2 was manufactured by Banaras Locomotive Works. Ex-Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri flagged off this railway engine on 3rd January 1964. Later this railway engine was sent to Eastern Railway's Howrah Diesel Shed. Kundan was used as a freight train. Also, it was used along with 'Kalak Mail', 'Howrah - Amritsar Mail' and 'Himgiri Express'
