Deutsch: Dieser Gedenkstein für alle politischen Opfer, die in den ehemaligen Konzentrationslagern von Gusen für Frieden und Freiheit starben, wurde um 1953 von der Belegschaft der sowjetstaatlichen "Granitwerke Gusen" gestiftet. Während die sowjetische Besatzungsmacht bereits in den ersten Jahren nach dem Kriegsende befahl, das KZ-Lager bei Mauthausen in eine Gedenkstätte umzuwandeln, wurden Teile des wirtschaftlich viel bedeutungsvolleren ehemaligen KZ Gusen I unter der Bezeichnung "Granitwerke Gusen" als USIA-Betrieb weiterbetrieben. Erst um 1953 war es seitens der sowjetischen Besatzungsmacht möglich, diesen Gedenkstein in Erinnerung an alle politischen KZ-Opfer von Gusen zu errichten. Noch 1950 wurde dem Land Oberösterrich die Ausgestaltung des ehemaligen amerikanischen Lagerfriedhofes des KZ Gusen zu einer würdigen Gedenkstätte durch die sowjetische Besatzungsmacht untersagt. |
