| Description |
Afghan National Army Air Corps (ANAAC) pilot, Major Besmullah Zadran (front) and Major Jangha Wordak prepare to conduct a pre-flight walk around of their MI-17 helicopter as maintainers prepare the aircraft for its training mission at the Kabul Airport, Afghanistan, 5 February 2009. ANAAC is recognized as being indispensable in counterinsurgency due to the vast terrain of Afghanistan. Supported by the Combined Security Transition Command - Afghanistan (CSTC-A), the Combined Air Power Task Force (CAPTF) and the 438th Air Expeditionary Wing (438 AEW), Afghans are mentored by American and Coalition personnel in their training to become a capable and self-sufficient Air Corps. ANAACs’ mission is to support the Afghan National Army as well as other government and civil authorities. |
