Description
English: Kaohsiung East Gate--東門 (aka 鳳山縣舊城)--is the common name the locals now identify with. The city wall was built strong and wide so a horse could run on top of it while cannons shoot. This frame could have once served as a bulletin for the sentinel officer to pass messages, or perhaps it was an unconventional art display by one of the villagers (military dependents village, 眷村)--political refugees from modern China. Either way, time changed, and the whole wall and the village built "on" it were remnants that contained something else, the war, the chaos, and fright.
