Nachdem Kappeln als Drehort für eine Fernsehserie eine gewisse Berühmtheit erlangt hatte, meinte die Stadtverwaltung, es sei an der Zeit, daß die Touristen auch den Fernseh-Ort "Deekelsen" in Kappeln finden sollten und wählten hierfür ausgerechnet die unwirtliche Fläche, die in den 7oer Jahren des 20. Jh. im Zuge sog. Stadtmodernisierung über die Zerstörung des historischen Straßenrasters entstanden ist.
