English: Double-portrait depicting the Prince Elect Christian of Denmark (1603–1647) and his wife, Princess Magdalene Sibylle, née Princess of Saxony (1617–1668), standing in a red velvet draped and gold laced interior with a view to a columned courtyard. He is wearing a yellow suit with white laces and black hat, gentleman brooches, black gloves, carrying a saber and standing with a stick. She is wearing a black dress with white laces and red silk flowers, a jewelled feather hat, brooches, pearls and white gloves holding a fan. In the middle a red chair and pillow with the Royal motto in Latin of King Christian IV of Denmark: Regna Firmat Pietas (Piety strengthens the Kingdom). The dogs are symbols of faithfulness and vigilance. To the right is a bowing man, who is said to be the artist himself.
