Title |
Dansk: Rytterportræt af Christian IV (1577–1648) som feltherre til hest English: Equestrian portrait of King Christian IV of Denmark (1577–1648) as the invincible field lord, wearing a suit in the colours red and yellow (the Oldenburg colours), black helmet with a large white feather, white lace collar, field lord sash and partly in armour, drawn sword and two pistols. The horse is kept in tight trot demonstrating the King's disciplinary abilities. The face belongs to the older King but the burning city in the background is supposed to be Kalmar - referring to the King's victory in Sweden 30 years earlier. |
