DescriptionKarl Tõnisson—Karlis Tenisson—Brother Vahindra.jpg |
English: Karl Tõnisson—Karlis Tenisson—Brother Vahindra.
Karl Tõnisson—Karlis Tennison—Brother Vahindra pildiga postkaart. The original file contains a swastika that can be misunderstood. It is an old Hindu-Buddhist symbol. In India and Nepal, it is a very usual sight to see. Only in Europe does it have a negative meaning when Nazis used it. "During the first decade of the 20th century, for some reason, Tennisons traveled to Riga, which became his second hometown. He lived at a local Jewish merchant's place. One of Tennisons's leaflets mentions that this was a summer cottage belonging to someone called Glazovski, which is a quite typical Jewish surname." https://www.researchgate.net/publication/292286463_Karlis_A_M_Tennisons_and_Friedrich_V_Lustig_-the_first%27practicing%27_Buddhist_in_Estonia, December 2015, p. 385. |
