Ambala c. 1905 Collotype Divided back 13.55x8.65cm Kasauli is a cantonment hillstation not far from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. It was founded in 1842, with a small strip of a bazaar typical of other small towns, although here originally photographed with a dramatic and welcoming diagonal. This card is postmarked June 28, 1912 and was sent to A.C. Stock, 12 Sherman St., San Francisco, USA from: "I had to give up the JJC. [a postcard club?] as we are going on manoeuvres and I shall be unable to keep it up. J. Lacey." |
