English: Katasiha Fort, also known as Katasiha Palace, is a historical site located in Hoima district, Uganda. The fort holds great significance in the history of the Bunyoro kingdom and the region as a whole.
The construction of Katasiha Fort is attributed to King Kabalega, who was the ruler of the Bunyoro kingdom in the late 19th century. King Kabalega used the fort as his residence and as a strategic military stronghold during the resistance against British colonial rule. The fort was built on a hill, providing a vantage point for surveillance and defense. It was constructed using traditional materials such as mud, wood, and thatch. The design of the fort incorporated defensive features such as high walls, narrow entrances, and hidden escape routes. |
