| Description | Key Tower, a postmodern structure located at Key Center, and anchoring the north side of Public Square, is the tallest building in Cleveland and the state of Ohio, and was constructed in 1991. Designed by Architect César Pelli, the building has 57 floors, and is 947 feet tall, visible up to 20 miles away. The main tenant of the structure is KeyBank, a major financial firm that is headquartered in the building. Adjacent to the building is the Marriott Key Center, a smaller structure constructed at the same time, and the Society for Savings Building, a ten-floor historic structure constructed in 1889 as the first "skyscraper" in Ohio. Today, Key Tower remains the tallest building in the Midwestern United States outside of Chicago, and the tallest building in Ohio. |
