Summary edit

Description
English: A milestone reading "Prov. 68 Km. 42.25 Mi.", seen in front of a house in West Roxbury in August 2018. Captain William Gibbs McNeill, who built the B&P, was enamored of the European kilometer system but failed to secure more widespread adoption of the unit on American railroads; however this marker dates from the 1850 construction of the West Roxbury Branch. "Mixed Train to Providence" notes that the milestone is in fact 42.25 miles from Providence when measured via Forest Hills and the original mainline through East Providence. The milestone was relocated slightly by the homeowner.
