Summary edit

Description
English: Kimber's Chimney Kimber's Chimney is the nickname of the clock tower which soars above Southampton civic centre, standing about 50 metres tall (sources are not unanimous!) and dominating most views of the city centre, especially at night when it is floodlit. It was built between 1930 and 1933 to a design by Ernest Berry Webber, who had won a competition to design a complex of civic buildings, and the nickname commemorates Sidney Kimber, the mayor who presided over its inception. The building material is white Portland stone.
