Nyckelord: Vaser
Description
Pair of porcelain vases with moulded relief, slip trailed and overglaze decoration. Qing dynasty, Qianlong period, c.1770This style of complex, dense decoration was popular in the Qianlong period. The panels on the vase depict the Daoist deity Ma Gu wearing a feather cape, with a basket containing ruyi magic fungus hung on a hoe across her shoulder. She is accompanied by the spotted deer of good fortune with a branch of magic fungus in its mouth. On the neck are panels with what appears to be scholars in Korean dress with servants. The painting is a little mannered and chinoiserie in character. Western styles were fashionable at the Chinese court in the 18th century, but vases like these were also exported.
