| Description |
Edward Kirby retired his Atkinson Alpha JHL670 in the mid 1970s and I think this 11 metre AEC Reliance arrived about the same, ex Rowson Bros of Hayes, Middlesex, one of a batch of 3. Kirby's light metallic blue had been replaced by an Oxford blue by this time. Seen possibly in Clacton. I never made notes, indeed I had never had this negative developed. In the background two ancient Duple bodied vehicles which have probably come in from Suffolk. Kirby had also owned Kirby's other 11 metre vehicles had been PVX171D a VAL-Plaxton and a somewhat recherche Setra s130 OTW116K Kirbys are still in business and still offer continental tours from the same base www.kirbyscoaches.co.uk/map.htm The vehicle poking out to the left looks a bit like a Ford 676E-DUple xxx x633C |
