English: Kirkcarrion Kirkcarrion is a distinctive landmark above Middleton-in-Teesdale, so the bronze-age chieftain believed to be buried here has a superb view. The Tumulus that lies on this small hill top on the east ridge of Harter Fell is hidden among the pine trees and has a ghostly feel - especially if visited at night. It is seen here from the south, which is the easiest side to approach, having the advantage of not revealing the view over Teesdale until it is reached. |
