Description

Carved work by William Day Keyworth junior and Charles Mawer, salvaged from Kirkgate Market, Bradford in 1973 by Bradford City Council. The market was designed by Lockwood & Mawson, completed 1872, demolished 1973.

In 2014 seven carved stones and an iron lamp base were rescued from storage by a local action group. They were placed on public display on the steps of Merchant's House, Peckover Street, Little Germany, Bradford, West Yorkshire.

The carving of the tree on the far right is by Keyworth, the rest by Mawer. Keyworth carved the spandrils over the main door of the market, and Mawer was responsible for the remainder of the carving on the building.
