Summary

edit
Description Built circa 1865, this Italianate-style three-bay townhouse was constructed by Jane Kirkpatrick, and housed her and her daughter, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, along with her son, William W. Kirkpatrick. Upon Jane’s death in the 1870s, the house was inherited by her daughter, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Mudd, and became the home of her and her husband, Dr. James R. Mudd. In 1907, the house was sold to saloon operator Edward M. Trask and his wife, Margaret Mudd Trask, later passing to their son, Felix Trask, who was a postal clerk. The house remained in the Trask family until 1963, and later became home to Le Pique and Orne Architects in the late 20th Century, before being sold once again into private ownership as a single-family residence, and having its interior restored, in the early 21st Century. The house features a red brick exterior, brick chimneys, arched window bays with two-over-two double-hung windows, a hipped roof with painted brick corbeling, a front door with sidelights and a transom, a front porch with rectilinear columns supported on brick piers, a rough-hewn stone base, and a shorter, gabled, two-story rear ell with a two-story gallery-style porch and exterior staircase on the south facade. The building is a contributing structure in the Commons Neighborhood Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.
