This physics image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “Kneehingeleverage.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

Summary

edit

This is an example of a mechanical advantage in a mechanism: in its application a relatively small input force 'V' is translated into a relatively large output force 'H'. The mechanism looks like the straightening of a leg with the knee equivalent to the hinge. I have made this sketch myself. I hope it helps illustrate a very basic mechanical engineering principle.
