Dansk: C. Christensen: Kometmedalje (Bergsøe 188). Denne medalje af guld blev indstiftet af Frederik VI i 1832 og uddelt første gang 1833. Den forestiller astronionomiens muse Urania siddende med passer samt globus og bærer omskriften: "NON FRVSTRA SIGNORVM OBITVS SPECVLAMVR ET ORTVS" ("Ej forgæves iaggtager vi stjernebilledernes nedgang og opgang") og indskriften "COMETA VISVS" (Kometen iagttaget) med felt til navneinskription på modtageren. Den uddeltes til astronomer, som fandt nye kometer, heraf betegnelsen. |
