Description
Svenska: "KONTAKTMINA MED ANKDARE. Svensktillverkad m/31.

English: "CONTACT MINE WITH ANCHOR. Made in Sweden model 1931.

The basic design of a self-anchoring contact mine is that it is equipped with firing horns, explosive charge and anchors. Corresponding construction was used by the belligerents during World War II, which many sailors bitterly experienced.

The red/white painted horns are transport safety devices and are unscrewed before launching. Below these are horns of lead, which are broken off if its hit by a ship. Inside the lead horns there is a fragile glass ampoule with an electrolyte which in combination with two electrodes provides the required current required for the mine to explode immediately.

The mine is here at its anchor. When launching, the mine and the anchor are connected to a roll of wire, the length of which is set via a mechanical device in the anchor, which makes it possible to place the mine in any position below the water surface.

Mine and anchors are cared for by the Association Flottans Män in Varberg."
