English: This is a miniature 24-whistle steam calliope (ca 1901) built in Cincinnati by George Kratz and is possibly the only Kratz steam calliope still in existence. This calliope was used on the fifth Frenchs ‘’New Sensation’’ (1901-1918) a showboat Captained by Augustus French and his wife, Callie French. The calliope is now in the collection at The Mariners’ Museum. |
