Description

Suomi: Pajakkajokea on käytetty historiallisella ajalla tervan kuljetusreittinä sekä uittoväylänä. 1700-luvun loppupuolella käynnistyi Kuhmossa kaupallinen tervankäynti. Tervavenettä voitiin vetää koskea ylöspäin kosken möljää, eli kivetystä pitkin. Tervansoutu perinnettä on pidetty yllä yhä Kuhmossa järjestetyillä tervansoututapahtumilla. Pajakkakosken niskaan on kaavailtu rakennettavaksi taidesiltaa pappilan ja kirkon väliseen salmeen, josta purettiin silta 1930-luvulla. Eräällä Kuhmon matkallaan Elias Lönnrot souti myös tuon kyseisen salmen poikki pappilaan. Saman matkan aikana hän sai valmiiksi Kalevalan kolmannen käsikirjoitusvihon, joka sisälsi reilun kolmanneksen koko Kalevalan sisällöstä. Näin ollen tähän paikkaan kytkeytyy kolme tärkeää asiaa.
