Description

'Vrouwe Fortuna' (1950).

Het beeld van de godin van het lot, staand op een opengewerkte wereldbol met windroos, is in 1950 vervaardigd door Pieter Starreveld (1911–1989) in opdracht van de Stoomvaart Maatschappij Nederland (SMN). Het personeel had in 1950 bij het tachtigjarig bestaan van de SMN dit kunstwerk aan de directie aangeboden. Het kreeg een plaats op het hoofdgebouw van de SMN op het Java-eiland. Na vele omzwervingen heeft het beeld in 2007 een plaats gekregen in de tuin van Club Panama aan de Oostelijke Handelskade.
