Description

L'entrée du Pavillon de conférences Pour entrer dans le pavillon, on doit longer un mur de béton lissé, un matériau caractéristique des constructions de Tadao Ando, en cheminant sous des cerisiers, des arbres chers aux japonais. L'entrée est volontairement très étroite pour un lieu public afin de signifier qu'on pénètre dans un espace où il faudra concentrer sa pensée. Conception Tadao Ando 1993 Campus Vitra, Weil am Rhein, Allemagne

Première création de l’architecte en dehors du Japon, ce bâtiment calme et plein de retenue regroupe plusieurs salles de conférence. Le corps du bâtiment à la structure très ordonnée cache une partie de ses extensions en sous-sol. Le chemin menant au pavillon, évoquant les sentiers de méditation des jardins des cloîtres japonais, est remarquable. Extrait du site de Vitra
