Description
English: Graph based on Erik Zachte's Wikipedia statistics of the number of active contributors to Wikipedia, having at least 5 edits in a month. The number of editors were averaged over 6 month periods, and then divided by the number of speakers of each language, as given in parenthesis in the legend. Only a few languages are included: English (assumed here to have 400 million speakers), German (105 M), Russian (164 M), Dutch (22 M), Swedish (9 M), Finnish (6 M), Norwegian (bokmål, 4.7 M), and Danish (6 M). It appears that the included languages form two clusters with English, Swedish, Finnish and Noregian having 100-150 editors per million speakers, German, Dutch and Danish having 60-70 editors per million speakers, while Russian has only very recently climbed above 20 editors per million speakers. The results could change if other numbers of speakers are assumed.
