Description LC-USZ62-67468: US Navy ironclad river gunboat USS Carondelet running past the Confederate fortress at Island Number Ten on the Mississippi River during the night of April 6, 1862, from New Madrid to Tiptonville, engaging shore batteries and landing a party to spike guns en route. She was commanded by Commander Henry A. Walke during this time. Steel engraving by Samuel Sartain after drawing by J. Hamilton. (5/29/2015).
