Description The structure of ligand-binding repeat 5 (LR5) of the en:LDL Receptor, which contains a calcium ion (grey) coordinated by acidic residues that lie at the carboxy-terminal end of the domain, and a sulfate ion (yellow and red spheres). Mutations affecting the coordination of the calcium or otherwise alter the structure of this domain are found in patients with the disease familial hypercholesterolaemia.
