Description
English: The first elements of a legislative organ in Uganda is traced back in 1888. The Imperial British East African Company started administration in Uganda with purposes to undertake the duties of general administration, imposition and collection of taxes and administration of justice in areas under it’s control. This is also known as the first Parliament of Uganda and in January 1958, the first Speaker of the LEGCO, Sir John Bowes Griffin, was appointed.
