Description
English: "La victoire en chantant" (Victory singing", = War (14-18) memorial in Phalempin (north of France, near Lille). Cf. "Chant du Départ" (French for "Song of the Departure") is a revolutionary and war song written by Étienne Nicolas Méhul (music) and Marie-Joseph Chénier (words) in 1794. It was the official anthem of the First Empire.
Français : Monument aux morts de Phalempin (nord de la France, près de Lille), construit après 14-18, évoquant le thème "La victoire en chantant". (Cf. "Le Chant du Départ" ; chant révolutionnaire et hymne de guerre écrit par Étienne Nicolas Méhul (musique) et Marie-Joseph Chénier (paroles) en 1794, exaltant les valeurs de la guerre et de la défense de la république.
