Description

English: HERE'S THE FRENCH-BUILT "DOUBLE MOUNTAIN ARTICULEE" FOR THE ALGERIAN P.L.M.

This machine has 28 wheels, 16 of which are powered, and is 28 metres long. Despite this length, and thanks to its three-part articulation (the two motor trucks on one side and the boiler on the other), it can negotiate curves with a radius of just 120 metres. Despite its narrow track gauge, imo55, it weighs 10,000 kilos unladen and 147,000 kilos laden. Its power is in excess of 1,800 bhp. Its maximum speed can reach 63 kilos per hour. On the hook, it can develop an average tractive effort of 18,000 kilos. In its rear axle, the locomotive carries 6,000 kilos of coal and 14 cubic metres of water. The front axle also holds 14 cubic metres of water.

It is fitted with the latest improvements: 4 single-expansion cylinders (two at the front, two at the rear), heating of the feed water (the reservoir of which is located between the chimney and the cab), superheating of the steam and particularly powerful steam and vacuum braking (the four vacuum reservoirs can be seen on the rear tent) coupled with emergency compressed air and hand braking (the two compressed air reservoirs can be seen on the front tent). The cab and front and rear lights are electrically illuminated. On a standard track of 1m435, the "Mountain" of the P. L. M. métropolitain for heavy fast trains weighs 133,000 kilos empty with its tenter (instead of 105,000 kilos on a track of 1m055).

  1. Copyright extensions must be considered only in the case of musical works and of authors Mort pour la France (died during conflict, in the service of France). In other cases, they are included in the 70 years post mortem auctoris length (see this statement of the Cour de Cassation).
  2. The collective work status is quite restrictive, please make sure that it is actually established.
