Summary edit

Description	La forteresse Suomenlinna (Sveaborg en suédois) a été construite en 1750 à l'époque de la domination du territoire finlandais par la Suède. Sa construction a été effectuée sous l'autorité d'Augustin Ehrensvärd. Elle devait renforcer les défenses de la Suède vis à vis de la Russie qui avait construit la citadelle de Kronstadt pour protéger Saint-Pétersbourg. En 1808, la Russie a annexé la Finlande, en en faisant un Grand-Duché et l'armée russe s'y est installée jusqu'à la chute du tsarisme. En 1917, la Finlande devient indépendante et reprend ses droits sur son territoire. L'armée a quitté Suomenlinna en 1973 et le site a été classé au patrimoine mondial par l'UNESCO.
