Description
English: Detail of folio 41 verso of Codex Telleriano-Remensis, a 16th-century Mexican manuscript, depicting with Nahuatl glyphs the famine which occurred in Mexico in the year 13 house (1505). It depicts a man from Tenochtitlan, among a starving population, going for food to the Huastec region; both sites are represented with their respective glyphs. The Spanish text following the glyphs says: "Year of 13 houses and of 1505. There was a great famine in the province of Mexico. People went for bread to the province of Pango [Pánuco]."
Español: Detalle del verso del folio 41 del Códice Telleriano-Remensis, un manuscrito mexicano del siglo XVI, mostrando con glifos nahuas la hambruna que ocurrió en México en el año 13 casa (1505). Se muestra a un hombre de Tenochtitlan, entre una población hambrienta, yendo por comida a la región Huasteca; ambos sitios son representados con sus glifos respectivos. El texto en español que sigue a los glifos dice: "Año de treze casas y d. 1505. Uvo grand hambre en la provincia d. México. Yvan por pan hazia la provinçia de Pango [Pánuco]".
