Summary
editDescriptionLady Mary Towneley's monument - geograph.org.uk - 813777.jpg |
English: Lady Mary Towneley's monument This is a monument to the late Lady Mary Towneley who campaigned for the creation of a long-distance bridleway. This part of the Pennine Bridleway - known as the Mary Towneley Loop - was opened in May 2002, the first section of the National Trail. The Mary Towneley Loop is a challenging 47-mile circuit around the South Pennine moors and is a great favourite with equestrians and mountain bikers.
The monument is located near a gate at the end of a steep grassy ascent from the farm at SD864288 and affords great views over the Cliviger area between Burnley and Todmorden. |
