Português: Este ecossistema natural de grande riqueza biologica constitui o habitat ideal para algumas especies e constitui um optimo local para a Invernada de aves migradoras, pois e um sitio sossegado e com alimento abundante. Estes ecossistemas defendem ainda as terras interiores da agressao da salinidade,

preservando os litorais da erosao marinha e funcionam como reguladores do clima.

A zona Oeste da Lagoa e composta por dunas que se dispoem em cordoes sensivelmente paralelos ao litoral.
