Description
Color postcard of Lake View School in Collinwood, Ohio. It was destroyed by fire March 4, 1908 and 162 lives were lost. Note: it was later reported that 172 children and 2 teachers perished in the fire and it's regarded as one of the worst school disasters in US history. After this disaster, schools across the country were inspected and several safety regulations were passed. There is a memorial to the lives lost at Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland where several of the dead are buried.
