Português: Lançamento do catálogo do Museu A Cidade do Açúcar, Virgílio Gomes. Francisco Serpa, Carla Gouveia, Clara Batista Ramos e Rui Carita O catálogo da exposição permanente do Museu A Cidade do Açúcar foi apresentado passados 34 anos das escavações e 27 da inauguração do Museu. São 140 páginas de história de um ciclo e de todos os objetos que compõe a exposição permanente. “O legado que deixamos para as futuras gerações é muito mais importante que todo o investimento que se possa fazer quer financeiro quer logístico”, referiu o Presidente da Câmara Municipal do Funchal, Pedro Calado, na apresentação da obra que aborda os momentos históricos do ciclo do Ouro Branco na cidade do Funchal, através dos objetos provenientes da casa de João Esmeraldo. Na cerimónia, que reuniu várias figuras da história, da cultura e da arqueologia, entre as quais Francisco Serpa e Rui Carita, que acompanharam as escavações da Praça Colombo, de onde provieram muitos dos objetos expostos no Museu, tendo estes partilhado, na ocasião, memórias das escavações, Pedro Calado reiterou a aposta na educação para “ajudar as futuras gerações a entender quem somos e de onde viemos”. O autarca enalteceu o trabalho de toda a equipa envolvida neste projeto, que realça, “vem complementar tudo aquilo que se tem feito que é materializar a nossa história, fazendo-a perdurar no tempo, como fizemos em 2008, com o lançamento de 54 obras de história dos 500 anos da cidade do Funchal”. |
