Description
English: U.S. Navy Lieutenant Michael F. Jordan (center), Landing Signal Officer of Carrier Air Wing 7 (CVW-7), and Lt. Mike Curtain, Fighter Squadron 102 (VF-102) LSO controlling, and two other landing signal personnel, man their stations during aircraft recovery on board the carrier USS Independence (CV-62). The carrier was operating in the Mediterranean Sea. In the background three of CVW-7's aircraft are visible: A McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II (BuNo 155545) of VF-33 "Tarsiers", a North American RA-5C Vigilante of Reconnaissance Heavy Attack Squadron 9 (RVAH-9) "Hoot Owls" and a Grumman A-6E Intruder of Attack Squadron 65 (VA-65) "Tigers". CVW-7 was assigned to the Independence for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 19 July 1974 to 21 January 1975.
